I think that it would've been the perfect blackpill masterpiece propaganda if ended theire. He waited for 2000 years for response and anything. Is like this situation we all have passed once.

But the real end was that the robots brought back a fake copy of his mom for one day so he technically fullfilled his dream.

However, the final can be seen as 'cope'. Yep, the robot had to cope at the end and it was hinted until death since once he fell asleep in his fake mother arms his battery ran out if energy
