I have two 22 calibers, two 9mm pistols, and one rifle/SMG style 9mm as well as a few cases of ammo locked in my closet. Gonna buy a 40 cal pistol soon as well. I already have survival supplies locked away in a steel locker in my closet (canned goods, first aid, flashlights, etc). Tbh, it'll do no good because my house is made of fucking plywood and plaster

This is part of my near-term plan. Tbh, I'm not convinced society will collapse, unfortunately. People will hold on to what they've got, even if it's next to nothing, rather than risk real change. But, being outside the city and as self-sufficient as possible is always a good thing.
Prepping is a great hobby tbh. It is my only cope.
My SHTF preps:
BOB, assault pack, body armour, combat chest rig, recconaicanse chest rig, boots + uniform, trauma kits, 1 month freeze dried food supply in a bucket
In addition, I have several firearms, thousands of rounds 9mm and 5.56 buried, around 70 low capacity magazines, night vision, maps, and 600 pounds of rice, flour, beans, salt, barley and other grains etc.
Plus caches every 100km to my bob, which is just my grandparents farm, with more supplies/food buried.

Damn, my hero. I've got a long way to go. I was raised by complacent boomers. Not as limp-wristed as the Gen Xers a lot zoomercels here were raised by, but still complacent and happy for their little creature comforts, so I've had to pick up a lot of the educational burden myself. I need to go hunting with my uncle before he gets too old, for instance.

Go hunting with your uncle as soon as possible. I spent my high school years on my computer and ignored my fathers attempts. He's too sick now to do anything. I regret it. Get out with your uncle/father while you can. They're the last males who will literally care about you - nobody else will.

My dad was never a hunter, typical fat burger boomer blue collar slob who gave up culture and community and identity for his TV and fast food and then when the factory closed... whoops, what do I do now?
I will try to get out with my uncle (not blood uncle, but you understand) though. Need to learn this shit. I've shot a rifle and a shotgun, but I've got a lot to learn. More than anything I need to get these tools. Where I live the laws make it essentially impossible. I want to drive down south and find a gun show where I can get some without any paperwork. I don't want to be on a list. How'd you get yours? Just a gun store and do the background check? I'd pass the background check obviously, I've never had anything more than a parking ticket in my life, but again I don't want to get put on a list.
I walked into the gun shop and the dealer went through the paper work and forwarded it to the police department who do background checks. Four months later, I purchased my first hand gun and just purchased a rifle.
If you don't want to be on a list, don't buy a gun. They check everyone out.
I don't think this is true in the US (yet). There are states where you can buy a gun from a private citizen and they're supposed to do is look at your drivers license. No background check unless you're buying from a dealer.
