Think it's not really possible to be grateful for material well-being since the human condition is so relative.
If you were in a similar material state since childhood you can't really appreciate it since it's all you've ever known.

The ones that don't go to sleep hungry (a tiny minority) in Burundi are surely much more content than we'll ever be.
