Serious Avoid phones that only support 5g

Got a new phone. Not defective; can't be, because the shop was nice and traded in for another phone since last one of the same model was supposedly "broken". It's a hand-me-down phone from my brother since I don't buy big brands.

The phone in questionis Samsung note 20 ULTRA. It's a newish phone that only supports 5g. What's the problem? I have 5g dataplan!!?

The issue is, because it doesn't support 4g or anything else, it will have reverse to H mode which is a nicer saying of "fucking slow or no internet at all".

You will need your city to have full 5g infrastructure or you will 'enjoy' having internet cut off in certain places.

But then Samsung phones are famously packed with design-based defectives (from my experience) so I'm not entirely sure if it's only this phone model or others are like that too. Anyway just opt for Chinese phones instead. Samsung phones famously have "burn in" screen problem too.

You can't avoid the wireless shit these days but you can artificially block your phone from seeking 5g waves.

There's few apps for this but idk if they only limit speed or downright blocks the 5g tower communications

Yeah they're pretty good. OnePlus too; these phones have dogshit bloated ROM though, Huawei/xiamomi are known for spying to ccp + jewgle (with westoid phones you only get spied by jewgle). OnePlus is relatively clean because you can monitor this with packet tracers.

here in India almost all newer phones are 2g, 4g and 5g enabled because our main carrier network is run by 4g now, 2g for backup and 5g is still being laid down...interestingly they put an end to 3g which in its last days was as fast, in some case faster, than 4g and widely available but costly (in terms of data plans) at same time

I had literally no intentions to buy any newer phones back in 2018 but those fuckers killed 3g without a warning and made my Samsung Galaxy Duos 2 3g smartphone redundant in a single move - so to just continue using a phone I had to buy a Xiaomi 4g one

and chink brands like Xiaomi and subbrands = Xiaomi, Redmi etc; BBK Electronics subbrands = OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and so so are leading the market, Samshit is overall second but costlier and bloated as hell - though all brands offer bloated ROMs but in my experience dealing with Xiaomi is better here due to plethora of available mods than Realme, Samshits and others

then Lenovo, Nokia, Motorola have some niche following

Pajeets are wise in that they prefer Chinese phones. Big brand phones are just full of problems.

Had two Samsung's, two burned charging ports (yes, literally burned and melted). Two LG bootloooping (they no longer make phones tho).

My Chinese phones, from Redmi and OnePlus, were relatively bug free, save for shitty non essentials like mics. If the choice is between burning my house down, or shitty mic, I would pick the latter.

The Snapdragon 865 will make phones worse in 2020, thanks to mandatory 5G

maybe but that's what we can afford here, if these big brand bloodsuckers had not looted us to death in era of button phones and at same time our carrier services as well, we could've mostly opted for trusted names as being conservative buyers but honestly chinks served us far better than established western and japanese brands when time came for 4g and upwards

they also offered us reliable softwares and our pajeetry of IT industries were quick to master over new tech from them

so yeah

you can check pajeet popular phones on websites like 91mobiles.com and you will find most of the time popular ones are chinese ones

though i'd like to say in initial days like 2005-2013 or 14 some chinese phones had really bad reputation here due to their shit tier QC QA standards, almost considered like 'poverty phones' but once Huawei and BBK jumped in with their touchscreen phones they were able to establish themselves within maximum 5 years and pull some giants like Samshit down on second place - chinks are really excellent merchants for being from a communist (at least in name) country that they were able to understand Indian market dynamics well, and put forth a business strategy here to become a giant in just some short span of time

I'd like to mention in days of button phones Sony Ericsson was a reputed name among us, but Sony could not remain same in era of smartphones, it's still readily available but in a minority now

AND ALL OF THEM ARE SCAMMERS THAT THEY JUST REBRAND SOME CHINESE PHONE IN THEIR NAME, all of them got some notoriety for that, in early days say 2009-2014 era they were able to gain some market share here due to absence of affordable 3g 'computerized phones' (those smarter button phones) and were of questionable quality, but they were able to loot us in name of "Indian" brands and being cheaper than Nokia and Samshit while offering some limited servicing; back then Chinese "brands" like G'Five etc used to focus far more on cheapness AS WELL AS PUTTING THE LOUDEST SPEAKERS THEY CAN FIND + PUTTING AS MANY CAMERAS AS POSSIBLE...so chinese button phone brands like G'Five were mainly focusing on "music player" phones than making an all-around good phone smh *shrugging* but even then they had some momentum among the youth in name of "coolness"

Another interesting "feature" was many of the chinese button phones used to run on easily available (but off-brand, mostly chinese made) Nokia model of batteries like BL-5C was damn common, also many of them shared their charger pins with those Nokia ones (that thicker or thinner barrel pins or mini // micro-USB ones etc) so that factor also helped;

Oh and of course, most chinese phones had dual, some even had triple sims slots in them so a common trend was 'why spend money on single sim Nokia when you can get a dual sim chinese button phone like G'Five for cheaper' - after all within a year or two a consumer would be buying new phone

so yeah

I myself had this G'Five music phone and goddamn...speaker on it could never be rivalled by any other phone back then

notice the front music buttons, dual sim and bigger screen (for its time being) and overall metallic body frame and back cover and all
