The review
Can you believe it's been a month since I proposed ordering a Dakimakura? Well order a month I did from a "certain website" but I can't recommend them or say their name though as
a- I never got a free review pillow or discount code
b- Their pillow cases have weird manufacturing dimensions that won't fit any standard dakimakura pillow size. The advertised size of 150cm by 50cm but mine was 148cm by 46.5cm
. Although that might actually work in my favour, for reasons I'll get into.
c- shipping was horrendous and slow (waited over a month for it to arrive from ordering to it to getting it today) See the original proposal thread below as proof.
d- Real dakimakuras are made in Japan. Whereas this one is made in China and worryingly the company has paid for featuring in western google search engine optimisation as well as paying prominent youtubers to say nice things about them.
So either this company sends out pillow cases that aren't representative of what the average internet shopper gets. That said I noticed reviewers get a flimsy, impotent looking, pillow insert made by the same company included so maybe they don't notice the wonky dimensions or can't say anything bad as they are sponsored.
I noticed a non-sponsored YouTube reviewer got the pillow case only. He filled his with two standard pillows put together (more proof the company makes smaller than advertised inserts?).
Getting intimate with my pillow
I got goosebumps as my anime waifu "came to life" using the two pillow method. It was like having an anime jailbait laying on my bed.
I mounted and cuddled said pillow and thought "Wow, how did I go from ridiculing Japanese boys on puahate with the dakimakura meme to being an owner myself in the space of a decade?" This is awesome!
