There are only 2 ways addiction is bad:
1-You want to stop but you can't (stupid)
2-You want to keep going but you can't afford it
Drugs are the ultimate form of pleasure, the behavior of all living beings is based on addiction to chemicals, everything we do is for chemicals, but evolution made us do certain actions to achieve certain chemicals
But drugs are like a cheat code, you directly achieve those chemicals without doing anything, and some drugs go even beyond your natural pleasure spectrum and give you euphoria that no living organism can experience, that's why heavy drugs mog everything else, and that's why drug addicts don't enjoy/ care about anything else in life, they are tried of life's BS and wanna get straight to it
Objectively speaking literally no other activity can even come close to giving you the same results as doing drugs. In fact if you did a self improvement trad lifestyle of living in a shitty rural shack and only eating healthy foods your dopamine and serotonin levels would be laughably fucking abysmal compared to a rich drug addict who can afford to live a comfortable lifestyle while constantly doing drugs. Every second you spend not doing drugs is time out of your life being wasted that could have been spent more optimally by being high
