He married at the age of 34, to some old hag, but he spent most of with it in separation due to poor financial condition. Lovecraft was infact so poor that he had to move out to bachelor house in Red hook where he had to live with imigrants. Marriage eventually failed in 1926 due to growing distance and differences between Lovecraft and Sonia. In the same year, Lovecraft moved back to Providence where he sepnt the rest of days alone. They never officially divorced, despite reaching agreement in this matter. It also important to note that the best pieces of Lovecraft's fiction come from this period when he retuned to Providence - Shadow over Innsmouth, The Shadow Out of Time etc.

He definitely earned title of Loner from Providence.
