I've spoken extensively about this subject with a single friend of mine a couple years ago, and also in the occasional thread on 4chan. I honestly do believe that the experience of being obsessed about a videogame and being in love with it, and being good at it, is SOMEWHAT comparable to teenage love. Obviously you have to be a genuine obsessive nerd, this does not apply to neurotypicals who are normal, have good hygiene, enjoy sports and socializing. But when I was a teenager, i regularly saw dudes with honest-to-god ptp teenage girlfriends literally abandon them to play World of Warcraft TBC. They would often times say that WoW was better than teenage love.
Granted, i never experienced anything when it comes to love and intimacy, ESPECIALLY when you're young (which is the time that you experience life at its fullest), and I do think that teenage love is on a level that is not comparable to anything that a male human can experience in his lifetime, but the pleasure of being in love with a videogame and being obsessed over it is not something to scoff at. I had a friend who was chad-lite who shared pictures of his sexual escapades, and he shared the same sentiments, as he is a massive nerd who plays WoW and yugioh to this day.
